Management of South-East Asian Studies

As well as giving importance to the study of different aspects of Thailand and the Thai people, Chulalongkorn University became aware that the South-East Asian Region was an area that would gain more attention from different nations in the future because at the time the world community was becoming more attracted to the region. Thailand, as one of the countries of the Southeast Asian region, would be able to serve as the centre of Southeast Asian Studies and so, the University established the Southeast Asian Studies Programme in 1998 with the collaboration of the Faculty of Arts and the Institute of Asian Studies.
